Since a ceasefire was declared, Israel has continued to commit war crimes and kill innocent Palestinians. 11th October, London, Palestine march. Estimates over 1/2 a million people. We were peaceful and diverse, from near and far. There was, as always a small pro Israel counter demo. As I passed, they were singing, Queen ‘We are the champions, we’ll keep on fighting’ and chanting ‘loosers’. Stood with them were associates of Yaxley Lennon. I saw the police arrest a Brown Muslim woman, who uses satire as part of her activism, standing in stark contrast to, the overwhelmingly white, male , drunk violence and aggression that was ignored by the police at the so called ‘unite the kingdom’ event in September. Additionally, footage has since emerged of Sussex Police, supporting far right activists, putting up flags on the South coast. Yes, a ceasefire is welcome, but those responsible for the genocide, must be held accountable, Israel still occupies over half of Gaza, plus the West Bank. Trump has put himself at the head of the committee overseeing Gaza, with Tony Blair expected to be involved, and the suppression of protest in western countries continues. Israel continues to restrict humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. Anyone thinking we live in a post colonial age, think again.
